Gluten-free bread, flour and pasta will be included in the VAT reduction from January in Spain

The elimination of VAT on basic products approved in the last Council of Ministers will mean a slight respite for families, who this year have seen the price of the shopping basket multiply due to the runaway rise in inflation. But also for those with a celiac member, since among the foods that will see VAT reduced and even eliminated there are also some gluten-free products that already have a much higher price than the rest. Both bread and flour, which until now had a 4% VAT, will see this tax eliminated, as confirmed by the Ministry, while pasta, as stated in article 72 of the Royal Decree-law, also experiences a reduction in VAT. In this case it goes from 10% to 5% and gluten-free pasta is also included. The Official State Gazette published last Wednesday the list of basic products that included the measure: milk, eggs, cheese, fruits, vegetables, legumes, tubers or fresh cereals, as well as bread or flour.
