Glyphosate disappears with Brazilian demand

In the last four months, glyphosate prices in China, the main supplier of the active ingredient to Brazil, have taken a sharp turn. According to an analysis by Jeferson Souza, a market intelligence analyst, over 85% of the volumes imported by the country originate from the Asian giant, which makes Brazilian agriculture quite dependent on this supplier. Currently, the FOB China price of the herbicide is around US$ 4.0/kg, which represents a 23% increase compared to April of this year. The justification for this appreciation is directly linked to the increase in global demand, with a focus on Brazil. Between January and August, Brazilian imports of glyphosate reached 169,280 tons, a result 50.4% higher than the same period in 2024.
