(Goesan=Yonhap News) Reporter Yoon Woo-yong = North Chungcheong Goesan County announced on the 17th that the selling price for this year's country-style pickled cabbage has been set at 45,000 won per 20 kg box (delivery fee excluded).
Country-style pickled cabbage, along with university rice and green peppers, is one of the region's representative agricultural specialties.
An official from the county said, "Over the past three years, to alleviate the burden on consumers, the 20 kg box was sold at 40,000 won, but due to the increase in labor costs, materials, and packaging, it was inevitable to adjust the price."
Goesan country-style pickled cabbage is produced in a clean area, washed with bedrock water, and pickled with domestic solar salt, maintaining a sweet and crispy texture for a long time.
Last year, sales by pickled cabbage farmers in the region amounted to 38.2 billion won.
The county will hold a Kimchi Festival from June 6 to 9 next month to promote the sales of locally produced pickled cabbage.
