Bolivia's Minister of Productive Development, Néstor Huanca, has announced a 20% increase in the country's sugar exports for the 2021-2022 harvest, reaching 3.3 million quintals. This is a significant rise from the 1.4 million quintals exported in the 2018-2019 harvest. The ministry is taking preventive measures to protect food security by authorizing the issue of certificates to ensure the internal supply of strategic foods. A new Planning Committee of the Sugarcane Complex has also been formed to oversee the supply of sugar in the domestic market, price stability, and the volume of exports based on harvest and production plans.
