Government launches Railway Plan with new rules and projection of R$ 600 billion in investments

The Ministry of Transport launched the National Railway Development Plan on Tuesday, the 25th, the most robust of its kind ever developed in the country. The government says the central objective is to unlock the expansion of the network, combining public and private resources. With a forecast of R$ 140 billion directly in rail infrastructure, the projects can total R$ 600 billion considering the other investments necessary for the full operation of the mode. The calendar established by the Executive provides for eight railway auctions over the next year. Among the projects scheduled in the calendar is the Ferrogrão, marked by an ongoing judicial dispute in the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The Ministry of Transports foresees the publication of the tender in May and the auction in September.
