A policy workshop titled "2026 Policy Workshop for Sustainable Circulation Management of Fishing Gear" was held on the 6th to share directions and development plans for the management policy of lost and abandoned fishing gear (photo). This workshop, organized by the Korea Fisheries Harbor Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the Corporation), was held to discuss the overall direction of the fishing gear circulation management policy, including the "Support Project for Improving Productivity in Coastal Fisheries," and to strengthen the connection between policy and field. The workshop covered topics such as a participatory fishing gear collection project for fishermen, the current status of the fishing gear and buoy deposit refund system, plans for introducing new fishing gear management systems (immediate removal of illegal fishing gear, lost fishing gear reporting system, fishing gear management record system), and domestic and international trends and utilization plans related to recycling of discarded fishing gear.
