The Regional Government of the Azores has unveiled a substantial 127.2 million euro budget for its 2025 agricultural plan, marking a significant 13.4% increase compared to 2024. This investment aims to boost local agri-food production for both domestic consumption and export, adopting a sustainable and competitive approach. The plan includes strategic investments in infrastructure such as roads, water supply, and electrification, with particular focus on supporting young farmers and enhancing the income of existing agricultural producers through various initiatives like the POSEI and PEPAC programs. Furthermore, the budget allocates 12 million euros for the development of slaughterhouses and the establishment of an Agro-food Observatory as part of the EU's Recovery and Resilience Plan, demonstrating a strong commitment to revitalizing the agricultural sector in the Azores.
