[Korea Farmers' and Fishermen's Newspaper, Reporter Jeong-su Woo] As onion farmers demand government-led disposal or purchase and stockpiling to stabilize prices, the government has proposed a priority purchase and stockpiling plan for 30,000 tons of onions. In addition, the government plans to delay the release of 3,000 tons of mid-season onions for a certain period to prevent flood sales. On the 26th, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced that it will continuously monitor supply and demand trends and proactively implement supply stabilization measures in response to the increased yield and production of early and mid-to-late season onions. The ministry noted that early-season onions, whose local sales were delayed due to rainfall and low temperatures, have increased in production by 9.2% compared to last year.
