The government of Uganda plans new policy on tea industry

As a countermeasure to depreciating tea prices, Government is in advanced stages of tabling a policy that will govern the farming, processing and sale of the ever-green leafy plant.Prime Minister and Leader of Government business Robinnah Nabbanja revealed this during plenary on Thursday November 16, 2023.“I have held four meetings so far. We're organizing a cabinet paper so that Government can come up with a rescue plan or policy on tea,” Nabbanja revealed.The undertaking comes on the back of a meeting between President Yoweri Museveni and various stakeholders. “We have to change the way we do our things. So, we have come up with a number of options. Short term, medium term and long term.
