Between July 1, 2024, and December 15, 2024, the European Union (EU) experienced a 30% decrease in grain exports, totaling 15.5 million tons. Romania was the most significant contributor, exporting 2.95 million tons of soft wheat, 1.24 million tons of barley, and 419.8 thousand tons of other crops. The primary recipients of the soft wheat included Nigeria, Morocco, Great Britain, Egypt, and Algeria, while Saudi Arabia, China, and Algeria were the main importers of the barley.
