The performance corresponds to an increase of 1.1 percentage points compared to a week ago. There is a delay, however, of 0.5 percentage points in relation to the same period last year, when 98.4% of the area was sown. Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo and Paraná completed planting the oilseed, while Tocantins, Goiás and Minas Gerais were at 99%. The most delayed state was Maranhão, with 65% of planting completed. Summer corn planting in the 2023/24 cycle reached 80.4% of the estimated area for Brazil by Sunday, 6.9 percentage points behind what was reported in the equivalent period of the previous season.
