A delegation from Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has reached an agreement with the US to initiate the legal procedures for importing Vietnamese passion fruit. This comes as part of ongoing negotiations on plant quarantine measures for fresh passion fruit. Vietnam is a major producer of passion fruit, with over 12,000 hectares dedicated to the crop, and exports to 20 countries. The country is actively improving the quality of its produce and promoting sustainable farming practices. Gia Lai province plans to expand its passion fruit tree area to 20,000 hectares by 2025. The province is also implementing various projects for the cultivation and processing of passion fruit. Hung Thom Agricultural and Service Cooperative is buying passion fruit from local farmers at prices two to three times higher than the market rate and exporting to France and Switzerland.
