The agricultural crops in Mato Grosso do Sul are projected to see growth in the 2024/2025 harvest, with an increase in planted area and harvested volume compared to the previous cycle, subject to favorable weather conditions, according to the December Agricultural Situation Letter by Semadesc. Corn is expected to have the most significant increase in production, followed by soybeans and sugarcane. The planted area for soybeans is set to increase, along with its production forecast, and the same is true for sugarcane, with the production estimate surpassing the previous harvest. The increase in sugarcane harvested volume will be used for ethanol and sugar production, while the bagasse will be used for energy generation, contributing to the economic and sustainable diversification of the agro-industrial sector in the state.
