Spain has seen a rise in the consumption of organic food, with Catalonia being a prominent market. In 2023, organic products accounted for 2.3% of total food sales and 3.3% of their value, with Spanish families spending 3.3% of their food budget on these products. This figure is estimated to be higher by the Ecovalia association. Catalonia contributed EUR 631 million to the nation's total organic food market value of EUR 3 billion. Globally, Europe, the United States, and Canada account for 84% of the organic products market, indicating that Spain still has a way to go to reach the organic food consumption levels of other European countries and to compete with the United States.
