GTB President Akıncı: "Cotton must be protected against climate change with sustainable production"

President of the Gaziantep Trade Exchange (GTB) Board of Directors Mehmet Akıncı, in a message he released on the occasion of World Cotton Day, stated that cotton is a product of strategic importance for both the Turkish and global economy, drawing attention to the effects of climatic conditions on production and quality. Pointing out that cotton has played a decisive role in the development of economies, cultures, and industries throughout history, Akıncı said, "Cotton is the essential raw material of the chain that extends from agriculture to industry, from textiles to exports. Turkey, especially with the fertile lands of the Southeastern Anatolia Region, has significant potential for cotton production.
