After 19 years, Argentina resumed its exports of sheep meat from the province of Entre Ríos to the Middle East. The National Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA) certified the shipment of 17,000 tons of this product to the Sultanate of Oman. The last sheep export from this province had taken place in 2006, from the city of Concordia, so this reopening of international markets marks a milestone for this type of production in Entre Ríos. The operation included the slaughter of 1,180 sheep from Entre Ríos producers from Concordia, Federación (Lazo), and San Lorenzo, at the official establishment No. 5610 in the city of Gualeguay. The operation is part of an initiative that seeks to expand the marketing opportunities for Entre Ríos sheep production, through the coordinated work of producers, the meat processing industry, and commercial operators, with the support of the State.
