According to a report by the Guatemalan News Agency on the 23rd, to achieve this accomplishment, the Guatemalan Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) submitted application documents through its Food Safety Directorate (Visar). The documents included scientific evidence confirming the aroma, quality, and physicochemical parameters of the two spices, aiming to gain recognition from the International Commission on Food and Codex (CAC, jointly established by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization). Guatemala has the world's largest Mayan vanilla plantation.
