Workers at the Gübretaş factory in Körfez district of Kocaeli went on strike after failing to reach an agreement in collective bargaining negotiations. Negotiations between the Petrol-İş Union and the General Directorate of Agricultural Credit Cooperative have been ongoing since January without reaching a consensus. Workers halted production and began a strike to demand the raises and improvements they believe they deserve. Teoman Aydınoğlu, Vice President of the Petrol-İş Union's Kocaeli Branch, stated in a statement, "We could not agree in our collective bargaining negotiations that have been ongoing since January.
