Gyeongbuk Province in South Korea has started the process of establishing the 'Subtropical Crop Research Institute for Climate Change Response' after two years, with Pohang City selected as the site for the institute. The province is now reviewing related laws, preparing a budget plan, and working on a comprehensive plan to foster subtropical crops to address climate change and provide new income sources for farmers. The institute is expected to contribute to the development of agriculture, tourism, and the regional economy. Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo aims to establish Gyeongsangbuk-do as the number one subtropical industry region by 2070.
