(Suwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Chan Chan-heung = The Gyeonggi Livestock Promotion Center (in Namsa-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin City) was officially designated as a "Hanwoo Breeding Center" selected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the NH Nonghyup Economic Holdings Hanwoo Improvement Business Office, it was announced on the 19th.
Accordingly, the Gyeonggi Livestock Promotion Center will be able to push forward projects such as collecting genetic information and creating a group of high-capacity cows linked to the national Hanwoo improvement business.
Synergy effects are also expected through cooperation with six local governments where Hanwoo breeding centers have been designated, including Gangwon, North Chungcheong, South Chungcheong, North Jeolla, South Jeolla, and North Gyeongsang.
Lee Yang-su, Director of the Gyeonggi Livestock Promotion Center, said, "The designation of the Hanwoo breeding center is a meaningful achievement that positions Gyeonggi as an important part of the national Hanwoo improvement business" and "We will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of farmers and increasing income through the production of superior Hanwoo and the dissemination of improvement technology."
The Gyeonggi Livestock Promotion Center has been disseminating advanced Hanwoo improvement technologies such as Hanwoo follicle aspiration (OPU, Ovum Pick-Up) fertilized egg technology, genetic analysis, and pedigree management systems to farmers.
