Gyeonggi Province announced on the 24th that it has established the "Third Gyeonggi Province Comprehensive Plan for Animal Welfare," which includes the operation of a veterinary forensic medicine center, the creation of regional pet parks, and the discovery of related industry startups. This plan focuses on four main areas: strengthening the animal welfare safety net, expanding infrastructure, spreading pet culture, and fostering business management and related industries. In the area of strengthening the safety net, 158.9 billion won (35.8 billion won from the provincial budget) will be invested in 22 projects, including the operation of a veterinary forensic medicine center, disaster and emergency animal rescue, support for an animal registration system, sterilization support for outdoor dogs and cats, the creation of adoption centers, and adoption fee support.
