In Mersin, Turkey, the harvest of Maltese plums, or loquats, has commenced despite a yield reduction of over 50% due to agricultural frost. The fruits are priced between 50 to 90 TL per kilogram based on quality, with top-quality loquats fetching higher prices. Mersin, which accounts for 72% of Turkey's loquat production, primarily in Tarsus and Erdemli, supplies both domestic and international markets, including Istanbul, Ankara, Dubai, and Iraq. Despite frost damage, loquats grown under cover have been preserved and are sold at premium prices ranging from 100 to 150 TL.
