Harvesting of the northernmost watermelons in the world started in Russia's Saratov region

Local watermelons have ripened in the Saratov region. Today, the farms of the Rivne municipal district have started harvesting a new crop of melons. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Minister of Agriculture of the region Roman Kovalsky. “1,351 tons were harvested with a yield of 89.5 centners per hectare,” he specified. This year, the area under melons and gourds in the region amounted to 4.9 thousand hectares, of which 2.8 thousand hectares are in agricultural enterprises and K (F) Kh. The leader in the cultivation of sweet berries is the Rivne region, and watermelons are also grown in the Engels, Marksovsky and Krasnokutsky regions.
