Canada's Agriculture Minister, Marie-Claude Bibeau, has announced a $3 million contribution to the Canadian Federation of Agriculture's Hay West program, aimed at aiding drought-stricken western ranchers with feed. This announcement follows a $1 million federal funding for the program to transport hay from Eastern Canada to the West. Initially launched during a major Prairie drought almost two decades ago, Hay West has shipped 5.6 million pounds of hay to 17,000 cattle in need, with transportation expected to continue into spring with additional support from various sources.
