Romanian police have launched an investigation after discovering that 12 tons of oranges from Egypt with a high pesticide content have been put on sale in a chain of hypermarkets. The fruit was labeled as coming from Greece when in truth its origin was Egypt, the police reported in a statement warning that the product has a "high pesticide content, far above the maximum limit allowed by legal standards". Apart from the false labeling, it is being investigated whether the income obtained from its sale has been kept outside the accounting records of the fruit distribution company.
