A false social media message claiming that 'Dana' brand rice from Pakistan is contaminated and has been imported into Costa Rica has been debunked by the authorities. They confirmed that the rice has not been granted sanitary registrations and that there are no import authorizations for it from Pakistan. Both the Network of Food Safety Authorities (INFOSAN) and the World Health Organization (WHO) also denied any alert regarding this issue, classifying it as fake news. This false information about contaminated 'Dana' rice was also spread in Panama, Colombia, Guatemala, and Argentina last year, but was refuted by the respective authorities.
