According to the Central Disaster and Safety Headquarters' 'Daily National Safety Management Report', 160,123 livestock died on a single day on the 8th. Among these, poultry accounted for the majority with 158,006 animals, while 2,117 were pigs.
From May 20th this year to the 8th of this month, the scale of livestock deaths reached 379,475, which is 7.6 times more than the same period last year (49,799).
The heat wave continues on the 10th, with the daytime high temperature expected to reach 37 degrees.
For the time being, the western regions and inland areas are forecast to have a heat index around 35 degrees, and tropical nights are expected to occur in many western regions and Jeju Island.
