The approaching heat waves are intensifying the fire danger in Dobrudzha. Fire threatens the harvest of the region's most important crop – wheat. Following a series of alerts about burning dry grass and waste, roadside strips, and bushes, there was also a signal about a fire in wheat, fire service officials in Dobrich report. 150 decares of wheat burned near the Romanian border in the territory of Yovkovo village. Again, the cause was burning dry grass that, due to wind, spread to the nearby wheat field. Firefighters managed to save the crop in large massifs. A day after the incident, there were reports of fires in dry grass in house yards and roadside strips in Karapelit and Gorichane villages, with timely firefighter intervention saving both houses and crops. According to the Agricultural Directorate, wheat-sown areas in Dobrich region amount to 1 million 104 thousand decares, and barley to 154,000 decares.
