Heavy rains have temporarily halted the onion harvest in Iran's southern regions, leading to a increase in onion prices. The Ministry of Agricultural Jihad is working to improve productivity and reduce water consumption by decreasing the area under vegetable and summer cultivation. Onion production is estimated to be around 1.67 million tons for the year, with the final production plan to be announced. Current prices per kilo in Tehran have surged to over 38,000 tomans.
