Banana prices for nanica and prata varieties increased in the Ribeira Valley (SP) over the past week. According to reports from Hortifrúti/Cepea staff, the appreciation of the varieties is mainly due to the low supply, which was already expected due to the harvest schedule. Additionally, the improvement in the quality of the fruit – which no longer showed characteristics from the reduced temperatures of July to September (darker peel) – was also a factor that reinforced the upward movement in prices, as it attracted demand.
