The Muğla Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry in Turkey is conducting surveys to identify areas for truffle mushroom cultivation using trained dogs. In collaboration with three producers, they are establishing truffle gardens on 10 decares of land in the Yatağan district. The first harvest is expected next year. Truffle mushroom, also known as the 'mysterious mushroom,' grows on tree roots and is difficult to find without specially trained dogs. The initiative aims to provide a high-value source of income for farmers by cultivating truffles, which can be packed, frozen, pickled, and exported.
