(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Yoon-gu = The Central Headquarters for the Response to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) announced on the 18th that HPAI has been detected at a duck farm in Jong-ori, Yeongdong, North Chungcheong.
This is the sixth case of HPAI confirmed in poultry farms during the winter of 2025-2026.
Since the beginning of this month, the number of HPAI outbreaks has increased, with four poultry farms and seven wild birds confirmed, and the outbreak regions have reached eight provinces, raising concerns of further outbreaks.
The headquarters will conduct thorough inspections on all duck farms in North Chungcheong and all duck farms nationwide by the 25th. Thorough inspections will also be conducted on contract breeding farms of duck processing companies that have been identified as related to the outbreak and epidemiological factors.
Additionally, preventive inspections will be carried out on duck farms in risk areas that did not participate in the duck farming restrictions for this winter.
The national local governments will be allocated approximately 1.7 billion won in emergency prevention funds.
