The harvest of the first 200 hectares of oats near the town of El Calafate, in Santa Cruz, to which 170 hectares of wheat will soon be added, undoubtedly marks one of the most relevant agronomic milestones of recent times. This is the southernmost large-scale grain production in the country, which is already sparking excitement for what could happen in the coming years. So much so that the governor of the province, Claudio Vidal, assured that the experience, despite all the previous doubts, will not only continue but will be expanded in that part of the provincial territory. During a visit to the Estancia Alice, where this initiative is being developed, Vidal expressed: “When we started talking about producing by working our land, for many it was something impossible in Santa Cruz.”
