Hortifrut, a B Corp company and global leader in the berry industry, and the Nature’s Pride Foundation, linked to Nature’s Pride and Berries Pride, European leaders in the import of fruits and vegetables, are jointly driving a school garden program in the Chao district, Virú province, La Libertad region. This joint effort has already benefited more than 3,000 people, including students, families, and teachers, in its first three years of implementation. The project promotes the installation of "forest" type gardens in public schools in rural areas, integrating sustainable agricultural practices, food education, and community work. In many of these schools, there were no green spaces, fresh crops, or knowledge about local fruits and vegetables. Today, thanks to the program, students learn about nutrition, agriculture, and the environment, while also strengthening teamwork and their connection to the land.
