The United States Department of Agriculture anticipates a 7.5% increase in global rapeseed cultivation area for the 2022/2023 season, with the largest sowing areas in India and Canada. This increase is expected to be driven by higher harvests in the European Union and Canada. Poland, a member of the European Union, is working towards achieving self-sufficiency in rapeseed production, which is currently at 95% and is expected to reach 100% in the 2022/2023 season. Breeding efforts have led to significant improvements in rapeseed, with over half of the registered varieties being new in the last five years.
