The 2024 green asparagus campaign in Guadalajara, Spain, is ending with mixed results due to unfavorable weather conditions like frost, which led to lower production and a shorter season. Despite these setbacks, prices have been favorable. The province has around 600 hectares dedicated to green asparagus, but the crop is declining due to climate change, lack of generational change, and challenges in managing seasonal workers. Juan José Laso, president of APAG, remains hopeful, citing the Protected Geographical Identity (IGP) status as a potential boost for profitability, covering 44 municipalities in the western part of the province.
