In India, the consumption of cooking oil and sugar is also declining after the shortage of commercial gas cylinders has forced many restaurants to scale back operations during the summer. As it is a country with a population of one billion, any slight change in demand for anything here has global trade implications. For example, analysts say that the country's import demand for palm, soybean, and sunflower oil is significantly falling. The latter comes to India from Argentina, Brazil, Russia, and Ukraine. This means that these important exporters now need to place more sunflower oil on other markets.
