Peru: Project will benefit 2,400 cocoa farmers in 60 villages on the Huallaga River

The Rural Agrarian Productive Development Program (Agro Rural) officially launched the public investment project “Improvement and expansion of support services in the cocoa production chain in 60 hamlets on the right bank of the Huallaga River, in the district of José Crespo y Castillo, province of Leoncio Prado, Huánuco region”, which will benefit 2,400 small cocoa producers in the area. The objective is to boost the productivity and profitability of subsistence family farming, so that they have greater access to support services in the cocoa production chain. Through this new project, it is intended to install 800 new hectares of cocoa plots (one per beneficiary) and provide 34,000 technical assistance to beneficiaries with existing plots regarding the different phenological phases, which will allow them to properly maintain 1,600 hectares of land for this crop. 800 producers will benefit from this installation of cocoa in the final field, produced in centralized nurseries, and ...
