Brazil: Coffee production in 2024 is expected to reach 58.9 million bags, an increase of 3.3% compared to 2023

By Daniela Amorim Rio, 01/10/2024 - Brazil is expected to harvest 3.5 million tons of coffee in 2024, or 58.9 million 60 kg bags, considering the two species produced in the country, arabica and canephora (conilon) . If confirmed, the result will represent a growth of 3.3% in relation to what was produced in 2023. The data comes from the third Agricultural Production Forecast this year, released today by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Arabica coffee should have a production of 2.452 million tons, 40.9 million bags of 60 kg, an increase of 3.6% compared to 2023. The area to be harvested grew by 1.1%, while the average yield increased by 2 .4%. “In 2023, we should have a negative two-year period for the production of Arabica coffee in the country and a reduction in production.
