The Irish Beef and Lamb Association (IBLA) agrees with the Irish Simmental Cattle Society's decision to lose confidence in the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF) and stop publishing ICBF evaluations in catalogues. This comes after breeder frustration with the ICBF's inaccurate beef indices for Irish herds. The IBLA is working with a legal team to challenge the revised ICBF indexes and is seeking compensation for financial losses suffered by pedigree breeders. The association also believes that the government's policy and approach are harming the beef and suckler industries and allowing pedigree breeders outside of Ireland to buy quality stock at discounted prices.
