China's meat and offal imports experienced a significant surge in the first two months of 2021, with a 27.6% increase to 1.6 million tonnes and a 10.1% rise in value to $5.1 billion compared to the same period last year. Pork meat made up 700 thousand tons of these imports, marking a 26.2% increase with a 14.3% rise in value to $2 billion. This situation is influenced by the ongoing African swine fever, with China banning pork and meat imports from Malaysia due to the disease. In response, Poland and the Czech Republic are implementing restrictive measures and increasing border control to contain the spread of PSA.
