Despite stable demand from buyers, Ukrainian manufacturers are forced to reduce the production of cheeses due to increased competition from cheaper imported European products. According to analysts, prices for semi-hard cheeses in Ukraine remain unchanged, but most products are sold with significant promotional discounts, affecting the income of producers. European cheeses are cheaper for retailers, so chains can set higher markups and still offer a lower final price. This ensures high demand for imports and complicates the sale of Ukrainian products, which cannot compete in the price segment.
