Imports of fruits and vegetables from 33 Turkish and Iranian suppliers to Russia suspended

Rospotrebnadzor has suspended the import of fruits and vegetables from Turkey and Iran to Russia. The ban included lemons, tangerines, peppers, grapes and pomegranates. Pesticides banned in the Russian Federation were found in the products. Products of 33 Turkish and Iranian producers fell under the ban, Rospotrebnadzor took measures, as a result of which about 60 thousand tons of grapes and more than 10 thousand tons of pomegranates from Turkey were not allowed to be imported into Russia. The experts of the department found a residual amount of 12 pesticides in the products, 10 of which cannot be used in Russia. “The concentrations of such pesticides as chlorpyrifos, acetamiprid, which are substances of the second hazard class, were more than twice as high in various types of food products,” Rospotrebnadzor noted.
