Imports of grain and oilseed seeds into Ukraine have decreased, while imports of sugar beet seeds have increased

Total imports of seeds of grain and oilseed crops, sugar beets and vegetables in 2024 amounted to 381.3 million USD, exceeding the indicators of 2023 by 3.2%, informed the head of the investment and logistics department of the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics", corresponding member of the NAAS Oleksandr Zakharchuk. According to him, last year Ukraine imported 8.6 thousand tons of grain seeds and 22.2 thousand tons of oilseeds for a total amount of 302.3 million USD. Compared to 2023, the volume of purchases of the specified seeds from abroad decreased in value terms by 3.8%, however, they are almost 2.5 times higher than last year's volumes of domestic exports of seed material of 122.6 million USD.
