[Im Simin, Korea Farmers' News Reporter] The subtropical fruit 'Apple Mango' introduced by Imsil County, North Jeolla Province to respond to climate change and rural aging is drawing attention as a new source of income as it enters its full harvest season. Imsil County has been promoting a pilot project for cultivating Apple Mango and Red Pear since 2021 by creating a subtropical orchard area of 3,995 square meters. Currently, three farms are cultivating Apple Mango, and one farm is cultivating Red Pear. The Apple Mango produced in Imsil has high sugar content and rich aroma, receiving good consumer response. Particularly, it has established a stable production base through research and technology dissemination despite the regional conditions of heavy snow and cold in winter.
