In 2025, Ukraine will significantly increase the area under cotton

In 2025, Ukraine plans to significantly expand the area of cotton sowing and launch support programs for producers of this crop. On October 23, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaly Koval announced this in his Telegram channel. As the official noted, harvesting of the first cotton crop is currently being completed in Ukraine. Test plantations were planted in Odesa in the spring of this year in 8 farms and one research site of the Ukrainian Institute of Plant Varieties Examination. These were small plots with an area of 0.2 to 0.5 ha. In total, for the 2024 harvest, farmers received 110 kg of cotton seeds, which were sown on an area of more than 5 hectares.
