Fazenda Terra Santa in Ceará, Brazil, owned by Fábio Queiroga, has started exporting Thaiti lemons to Canada, with the first shipment being 20 tons. The lease of 10 out of the 850 hectares is dedicated to lemon cultivation, and the produce will be shipped via the Port of Pecém. Queiroga highlights the high-quality soil and the phytosanitary issues in São Paulo as reasons for the lemon cultivation. The port of Pecém is seeing a decrease in sea freight, which is expected to boost business. Additionally, Fazenda Terra Santa also grows soybeans, which are purchased by local poultry companies.
