Since the start of the year, Uruguayan meat processing plants have been progressively authorized to export bovine stomachs directly to China, making it the primary market for Uruguayan tripe by July. By July 24, 238 tons of tripe had been shipped to China, outpacing exports to Hong Kong and Ghana. The average export value to China is notably higher than other destinations, with six slaughterhouses currently exporting directly to China. While Hong Kong remains the main customer for booklet exports, China is expected to overtake it soon. Additionally, Japan has emerged as a significant market for Uruguayan tongues, with a high average export value.
