The National Statistical Institute reports a significant surge in the export and import of fats, oils, and waxes of animal and vegetable origin from Bulgaria from January to April 2022. Exports to the European Union saw a 127.4% increase, reaching BGN 942 million, compared to BGN 197.6 million in the same period of 2019. Imports from the EU also surged by 176.8%, reaching BGN 354.9 million. Additionally, exports to third countries increased by 171%, amounting to BGN 336.8 million, while imports increased by 206.5%, amounting to BGN 225 million. The trade of these goods, especially palm oil, has seen substantial growth, with Germany, Romania, Italy, Greece, and France being the main partners for exports to the EU.
