The National Statistical Institute (NSI) reports a boom in "Fats, oils and waxes of animal and vegetable origin" for the period when our country experienced a kind of crisis with oil prices.
Vegetable oils are products of the processing of oil-bearing raw materials. The main types are: sunflower; rape; soybean; olive; palm tree; cotton; and peanut. Animal fats are, for example, cow butter and lard. According to statistics, from the beginning of the year to the end of April 2022, the growth of exports from our country to the European Union of goods of these categories reached 127.4% and the amount amounted to BGN 942 million. For comparison, during the same period of the last pre-pandemic year - 2019, the export of these goods to the EU was significantly smaller - BGN 197.6 million.
