Moldova's Union of Nut Producers Associations is expecting a faster walnut harvest this year due to favorable weather conditions, with early exports in mid-October. However, the harvest of late walnut varieties is slow due to low demand and uncertainty about prices. The quality of earlier variety walnuts has deteriorated during post-harvest processing. The prolonged harvesting and delayed first exports are also affecting the collection of walnuts from alleys and forest belts. Experts predict the 2022 walnut harvest in Moldova will be between 20-25 thousand tons (in shell).
